We sell our scrap and other materials and equipment that we no longer need. This includes both used and new material that may be obsolete or otherwise now unsuited for our use. Some surplus materials may be offered for sale to our employees but this is not normally done if we are soliciting offers from outsiders.

Standards

We sell surplus and scrap utilizing professional and ethical business conduct. to cultivate competition among with competent firms. We establish and employ standards that help us ensure the best value and set minimums to help manage any risk. Personal gifts or favours are actively discouraged.

Preference

All things being equal, we give preference to qualified buyers in accordance with their proximity to our source of surplus or scrap, recognizing that encouraging local and Canadian business development is to our long-term benefit. Local firms are given every reasonable opportunity to compete.

 

Business Methods

We primarily use a bid invitation process to sell surplus but we do use alternative methods when circumstances, in our judgment, warrant such action. Our evaluation and award of business considers both the price offered and other non-price factors. Information is not routinely disclosed regarding bids, negotiations, evaluations, or sales.

 

Work on our Facilities

If the removal of scrap or surplus involves work in our facilities we select only those buyers we believe knowledgeable and competent to meet our health, safety and environmental requirements. We manage the sale agreement and monitor the work or work results to ensure compliance. Our key health, safety and environmental considerations are included in the development of any sales contract.

Inventory

Inventory is sold to outsiders if it is obsolete or we have too much for our purposes. Other sales may be made on an exception basis. In such sales, our intent is to recover fair market value.

Information & Access

Buyers and their representatives are received at our discretion or in accordance with any contractual arrangements. We reasonably control access to our facilities, and information, having in mind our safety and operating needs, and the security of our information. Information shared in the course of business is treated with respect. and we do not routinely allow our name to be used in promotions by other firms.
